The
University of North
Carolina at Charlotte
is one of the sixteen campuses that comprise The University of North Carolina.
UNC Charlotte aspires to be North
Carolina's most energetic and responsive public
university. It strives to provide quality undergraduate, graduate, and
continuing personal and professional educational opportunities in the liberal
arts, sciences, and selected professions. To that end, the uptown site opened
in January 1995 to increase educational access to approximately 50,000 people who
work in or live near uptown Charlotte.
UNC Charlotte Uptown is helping potential students overcome the time and
distance barriers to educational opportunities.
At
the beginning of January, 1999, UNC Charlotte Uptown moved to
220 North Tryon Street
,
in the building that for years was the home of Montaldos. This
historic property was renovated and provides a superb setting for the new UNC
Charlotte Uptown and for the Mint Museum of Craft + Design that occupies
the first two floors. UNC Charlotte Uptown occupies the entire third
floor. Several classrooms are equipped for wireless internet access and
computing, and we have a state of the art video conferencing conference room.
Students
working on their MBA are able to complete the entire MBA curriculum at the
uptown site. We continue to offer many of the classes in both the Masters
of Health Administration and Masters of Accountancy programs.
