Charlotte Center City Partners was formed in 1979 by business leaders, Center City residents, and the City of Charlotte to effectively coordinate  private and public development of the Center City . The organization works to promote, encourage and coordinate Center City business, cultural, retail and residential endeavors. Their website, Center City Partners, contains many links about uptown.

Charlotte
hosts many meetings at the new Convention Center.

The Public Library of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County is located just around the corner on Sixth Street . Professors can put materials on reserve for availability to students whenever the Public Library is open.  This library was named the "Library of the Year" in 1995, and the "Library of the Future" in 1996. 

Across Fifth Street is the North Carolina Blumenthal Performing Arts Center.

Diagonally across North Tryon Street is Discovery Place

The Charlotte Symphony Orchestra is also located down College Street .

We are two blocks from Spirit Square , the cultural education collaborative and within easy walking distance from the  Tryon Center for Visual Art. 

The Mint Museum of Craft + Design of course is our home.

For a quick (and free!) tour, hop a ride on the Gold Rush Circulator that runs several routes around the
uptown area.

Uptown Charlotte is also home to the Carolina Panthers and the Charlotte Bobcats.
